Melinda Nava - Founding Director
In 2009, Founding Director, Melinda J. Nava envisioned a program that will address and meet the challenges associated with increased costs toward assistant living and nursing home care, by way of financial funding through In The Master’s Steps. Melinda brings more than 12 years of Gerontology management experience, starting as a Caregiver for Sunrise Assisted Living, then progressed to Field Manager for 10 assisted living homes and eventually Client Care Specialist with Home Instead Senior Care for multiple assisted living homes in the greater Denver, Colorado area. Melinda Nava demonstrates a love and passion for the elderly and excels in daily management in meeting their needs. Ms. Nava currently serves as Owner and Operator of Safe Harbor Assisted living, LLC in Longmont, Colorado. Melinda will serve as visionary for the non-profit corporation.
Ed Nava - President and Executive Director
Ed is not new to management. 34 years of comprehensive management experience including education, distribution management, human resources, volunteer training and management, fund raising, sales and marketing, project management and hotel management. Served as Field Ministry Manager and Conference Volunteer Manager for Promise Keepers Christian Men’s Ministry for 10 years. Men’s Ministry Leader, coach and men’s leadership development. Owner/Operator of Safe Harbor Assisted Living, LLC since 2007. Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills and abilities. Excellent administrative, organizational, planning skills, as well as motivational speaker to include large-scale event developer/promoter. B.A. Degree Psychology, California State University, Los Angeles 1972, Los Angeles, California. Mr. Nava shall be responsible for all fundraising activities to maximize funding goals and overall donor retention efforts, as well as serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation to provide general guidance for the overall functions, as well as in general, supervise and manage all of the business affairs of the Corporation.
Jeff Wilson - Treasurer
Current Vice President of Event Services for Conference Ministries International (CMI) with HeavenFest being CMI’s flagship event. Ten years corporate food industry tenure. Several years experience in fundraising, sales/marketing activities for non-profits in Michigan and Colorado. Served in numerous capacities for Promise Keepers Christian Men’s Ministry to include Regional Volunteer Manager, Senior Event Director, National Development Director/VP Development-CDO. Men’s Ministry Small Group Leader. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, administrative and planning skills. Excellent sales, management and leadership abilities. B.S. Degree Business Administration.
Joshua Dapkus - Secretary
Marketing Director of Bayada Home Health Care based in Loveland, Colorado. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, sales and marketing and administrative skills and abilities.
Several years serving as middle/high school teacher and Assistant Principle at Boulder Valley High School, Boulder Colorado and Principle at Heritage Middle School, in Longmont, Colorado. Owned/Operated local Travel Agency for 7 years. Volunteer work with senior citizens at local nursing homes, bi-lingual (Spanish/English), Board Member of Shekinah Ministries and volunteer work in Jail Ministry. Strong administrative, interpersonal and management skills and abilities. B.A. Degree Sociology, University of Northern Colorado, 1979; Masters Degree, Educational Administration, University of Colorado, 1993.
